Are you living between two worlds?

This question comes from something I heard the late Earl Nightingale say in one of his radio programs. In which he talked about living between the daily nitty-gritty and the life that we actually would imagine for ourselves. And he referred to it as a living between two worlds.

As you work your daily job and consider the potential of your business idea I would assume that many times you feel like you are as earl nightingale would describe, living between two worlds.

But that leads me to a question. How do we get from the daily nitty-gritty to the life that we imagined for ourselves in our families? Well, there needs to be a bridge. And there is only one person responsible for building that bridge and it’s you. No one is going to build the bridge between those two worlds for you and only you can do it and you can do it and actually enjoy it.

So today we’re going to briefly break down what it takes to build a bridge between these two worlds and we’re going to use the acronym bridge to start building.

I want you to understand that this metaphorical bridge that we are building actually deals with who we are. It is an internal process.

How to build a bridge to the life you want:

Believe

This is foundational. This is what prepares the work that needs to be done. What you believe or do not believe will determine what you do with your life and your side business.

I’ve talk to a lot of people about their beliefs. Because what we believe determines our behavior and determines what we do with our lives.

So let me ask you a few questions do you believe you can build a business? I’m not asking you if you want to. I’m not asking you yes it would be nice too. I’m not asking you if you have credentials or specific training. I am asking you do you believe within your heart that you can start and grow a side business?

That does not mean that there will be times of doubt. In fact there is a direct correlation between belief and doubt. If you remembered the centurion with in the New Testament that said to Jesus the master teacher, lord I believe help my on the leaf. How Ken Davis paradox exist? Eric says because we’re human. So I am not implying that he will never have doubts or struggles. But at some point we have to sit down and we have to answer the question affirmatively do iPhone believe that I can build a business.

Respond

As I think about this idea of responsiveness I think about the opportunity that you have right now. We are living in a time in which there has never been an opportunity to build a side business especially online, like today. I’ll world world and although it has its problems it always has and always will it is also filled with opportunities for those who choose to look for them.

And if you are going to build a bridge from where you are now to where you want to be five 1015 years from now, then it is time to respond to opportunity. You don’t want to wake up years later and say I wish I would have. You want to be one of the wise ones that wakes up and says I am so glad I did.

But that takes wisdom, prudence, Philip gents, brisk, it takes being a person who is willing to respond. If you hear this message now and then you and I find ourselves talking together in a coffee shop five years from now how are you going to tell me you responded? How is your life going to be better? How much more success will you have achieved because you’ve responded to your unique opportunity.

Now let me get on another level with you. Some of you have felt a sense of calling or you have known in the depths of your heart about something you must pursue, or you have had an inclination toward something but you have not acted upon it. Now is your time as you build this bridge to answer that car to pay attention to that inclination to be sensitive enough to follow what has been pulling at your heart.

So how do you build a bridge from the nitty-gritty daily activity to the life that you’ve been wanting? Do you respond.

Imagine

As we consider what our friend Mr. Earl Nightingale has said that most of us go around living in the nitty-gritty of daily life imagining a better life for ourselves and even for families in our future, I want us to pay attention to that imagining part. For some their imagination for what is possible has been dampened has been clouded or has been stripped away. But the truth is, you can’t continue to imagine and even as you progress towards that lifestyle you have been imagining continue to imagine something greater than what you currently experience. Imagination is a gift from God. It gives us eyes to see something that has not been created yet. It gives us energy to bring something new into the world. It gives us what world changers need and order to make change possible. And if you have found yourself struggling to imagining something greater and better now is the time to reignite your own imagination.

Imagine what would be possible if your side business crew to the point to where you were able to meet your family’s needs by doing what you love. Imagine if you were able to grow your business beyond meeting their neat and also supplying some of their once, what if they grew into the business that you always dreamed of? And whether you wanted to be your full-time business or remain a side business or not that’s certainly up to you, you get to make that decision. But you can imagine the kind of business day you get to build.

What would it look like if you woke up every day, and you were eager to do the kind of work that blesses other people? And to also be rewarded financially for bringing your Bess into this world? What would that make life like for you? If you want it, you have to imagine it, and you have to build a bridge to it.

Determine

Bridge building also requires determination. If you ever talk to an architect or instruction worker who has been on a bridge building project he will tell you that it takes some determination.

Now when it comes to our side businesses determination can fluctuate. It’s easy to be fired up one day and face a challenge the next. But we must determine to continue if we are going to move beyond the nitty-gritty into that place that we have imagined.

You’ve never heard of a successful person that lacked determination. And you can be determined to build whatever you want to build or create whatever you want to create for whatever reasons you desire. It could be for your family it could be for a particular mission or cause. But moving from where we are in life to where we want to be in life does not happen by chance or if I luck it does happen by determination.

Who are some of your heroes? When you look into the business world or into the world of entrepreneurship, who do you greatly respect?

Grow

Building a bridge to the life that we want for our family for the future also requires us to grow. It requires us to grow personally and professionally.

It’s often been said that the greatest growth happens just outside of our comfort zone. And far too often, we live and operate within our comfort zones. That’s one reason why it is so important to set goals whether they are pertaining to our side business or our marriage or even recreational goals, it’s important that they stretch is beyond what we are used to. That is where the growth happens.

And starting a new business takes work hard work and all the other trades that we’ve already discussed but we also have to be willing to grow throughout the process and if we are going through the process growth is going to be a natural part of Bill Dean the bridge

But for example, let’s say that you are determined to start an online business. Perhaps you want to build courses around the topic that you’re passionate about. But you don’t have a lot of tech knowledge. And you’re unclear about how to build a website or what you should be looking for in a website for where are you should start with digital marketing. All of those areas that you do not know about are going to require some growth.

Learning part of the process, and I personally want to always be teachable. And no matter which area of business we are focusing on there’s likely going to be some learning involved whether it’s accounting marketing selling creating one on one interaction with others, even the best are growing in these areas.

If iPhone that as long as I am teachable as a person and willing to grow that that will impact every area of my life. Remember we are holistic people. We were not created just to compartmentalize everything every area of our life is interconnected and we are willing to grow even for the sake of our side business we will experience growth in other areas of life.

Expect

If you have gone through the process of bridge building and you have checked in with your belief system and that it’s possible to build a side business that will improve your life and that you are responding to opportunities and that you continue to imagine what is possible and you’re determined to take action and see  your results and you remain teachable and you grow throughout the process then we come to the last part of bridge building and that is “expect.”

While you’re building your business you are going to learn so much about yourself about others and even about God and how he chooses to bless you and others by using your God-given gifts.

I believe that is fair to say that if you are building your bridge then you can expect good things and great things as long as you continue to serve others

Here are a few things I believe you can expect as you build your bridge from the nitty-gritty daily life to the life you imagine for yourself and your family;

You can expect new friendships. When you are growing a business you are connecting with other people. Business is actually people business. It’s all about serving others and building important relationships and friendships that may last you the rest of your life.

You can expect new opportunities. Once you are known for the products and the services that you provide and you serve people with excellence opportunities will begin to show up. Opportunities that you never expected. Maybe your ass to give a chemo on your particular topic, maybe you’re invited to speak another podcast, maybe you’re invited to teach or lecture someplace. It’s unclear what the opportunities will be but you can expect down as you continue to build.

You can also expect prosperity. There is absolutely nothing wrong with earning additional income or a greater income than your current career. Remember, money isn’t a problem, it’s our attitudes about money that create problems. And when you stay at your craft long enough, you are consistent, you provide value that is going to improve the lives of others, you will naturally prosper. In other words, you can expect more money.
